There were originally 2 sons that left Germany and came into Russia. They were sons of Peter Winter. Of which very little is known at this time, his 2 sons were Peter and Jacob.
JACOB G. WINTER Sr. - The youngest in the family and the only one to come to USA, went to Oklahoma for a very short time then on to Windsor Co, This is the "UNCLE JACOB WINDER" to George Steinert. The spelling was changed to have the pronunciation closer to the spelling VEENder. After a while there were too many Winders to change them all back to Winter. They are the same family origins from Peter in Germany. Jacob became a very successful Sugar Beet famer and owned his farm outside of Windsor, Co. And had cousins from Oklahoma visit him on occassion, my Great Grandfather Leonhart Winter and even my Grandfather John L. Winter.
