Coshocton Democrat Weekly Newspaper of Coshocton, Ohio; Thursday, July 5, 1883:
Mrs. Mary Shrake, mother of Mr. George Shrake of Coshocton, died at her old home in Fallsbury township, Licking county Sunday Jane 24th, aged nearly 81 years. Mrs. Shrake's maiden name was Mary Winders; she was born in Shenandoah county, Virginia, September 16, 1802; came to Ohio when about 2 years old and was married to George Shrake in 1820. Her husband died about six years ago. She lived nearly all her long and useful life in Coshocton and Licking counties. In 1867 she united with the Disciple Church and lived a consistant Christian life to the day of her death. She was the mother of 13 children, all of them now living, and all but one present at the funeral which took place at Fallsburg last Tuesday. In the last days of her life Mrs. Shrake could count as her descendents 73 grandchildren, 51 of them living, 22 dead and 46 great grand children, 41 living and 5 dead.
