2404 | Leslie A. Winders, 78, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 at Rush-Copley Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on December 31, 1928 in Aurora, the son of the late James F. and Mabel (Hughes) Winders. Les served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roadway Express employed him for many years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Tiger Club, Third Ward Club as well as the Montgomery V.F.W. Post 7452. Les enjoyed gardening, watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears and spending time with his family. His children survive him, Brian Winders, Dawn (Charles) Leadbetter, Tammy (Tom) Henrikson and Todd (Chris) Winders; his grandchildren, Brian Winders, Tanya (Joel) Wyeth, Cameron (Carrie) Leadbetter, Shane Leadbetter, Paige, Andrew and Ryan Henrickson, Nicole (Jason) Costa, Brianna Winders and Todd Winders; his great grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Wyeth, Ashley Costa and Caylie Leadbetter. Leslie is also survived by his sister, Doris Johnston; his brother, Clarence (Pat) Winders; and his friend, Bill Watkins. In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by his wife, Marilee; his daughter-in-law, Peggy Winders; his brother, James Winders; his sister, Audrey Tippy; and a sister, Annamarie in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed the Montgomery V. F. W. Post 7452, 121 N. River St., Montgomery, IL 60538. Les was a great son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. 2409 | Liesa Robarge - Oct 31, 2002 LULA SHORE, born August 27, 1908 the daughter of John William and Susie Winders. She departed this life May 3, 2001 at the age of 92 years, eight months and six days. She was married to Denzil Aaron Shore on July 6th. 1927. From this union seven children were born. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law; Randall of Rosiclare, Illinois; Marvin and Wanda of Evansville, Indiana and Lowell Ray and Judy of Sparta, Illinois. Two daughters and sons-in-law Marquerite and Wilburn Lampert of Elizabethtown, Illinois, Oma and Ray Simmons of Cave In Rock, Illinois; son-in-law Cecil Rabourn of Kankakee, illinois and a daughter-in-law Joyce Shore of San Antonio, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Her husband Denzil died October 13, 1950; one son Glen Deon died July 29, 2000 and one daughter Wanda Lou Rabourn died March 28, 2001. Surviving are brothers Berlie Winders of Catlin, Illinois, Herman Winders of Bethalto, Illinois and Herbert Winders of Rosiclare, Illinois. Sisters Belva Board of Elizabethtown, Illinois and Alma Mae Winders of Alton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ulys,Henry, Ewell and one died as an infant. Sisters Roxie Suits, Nora Suits and Marie Drumm. Lula spent her entire life in the Cave In Rock area of Hardin county. She was a seamstress and sewed for people young and old. Also until the pst few yesas she had an excellent memory. people from far and near would come to her for names, dates of birthdays and other special occasions of the past.
