Subject: [HILL-L] Yet Another William Hill
      Here's another one!

WILLIAM HILL, a 4th great uncle, was born on 10 Oct 1790 at Carrollton Manor, Frederick County, MD, the son of Benjamin Shaugh Hill and Sara Scaggs. He traveled to Ohio (Ross Co.) with his family in 1807, and by 1827, had migrated north to Walnut Township, Fairfield County, north of Lancaster, Ohio.

In 1827, he married MARY RUFFNER, and had one child, JOHN RUFFNER HILL, before Mary died in 1828. I have a line on John R. Hill's progeny fairly well in hand.

On 17 Jan 1830, William married ELIZABETH ALLEN. By 1850, William and Elizabeth had six children. They were as follows:

LAMBERT S. HILL, b. 1831, m. MARTHA WINDERS in Fairfield County.
      SAMUEL M. HILL, b. 1834, m. ELIZABETH E. (Nee unknown).
      OWEN D. HILL, b. 1840.
      ROBERT L. HILL, b. 1842.
      MARY ANN HILL, b. 1846.
      WILLIAM D. HILL, b. 1850.

William Hill died on 13 Jun 1867. In his will, with all the normal stipulations, he branded his son SAMUEL as "disobedient," for reasons not covered in the document. His wife and several children are, however, mentioned in this will.

My reason for submitting this family line is to see if anyone knows of HILL progeny in the following areas of Ohio: Newark, Outville, Hebron, Buckeye Lake, Lancaster, and a reasonable area bounded by these locations. Two daughters of SAMUEL HILL, my late second great grandfather, a grandchild of Benjamin Shaugh Hill lived and died in the Newark and Outville areas. I have no idea what, if any, communications between the families of this Samuel, or his father, John Benjamin Hill, took place.

While this may be confusing, a simple discussion of HILL family members currently living in an area centered on Lancaster, Ohio, may reveal long-lost or previously unknown relatives within my HILL ancestors.
