Ann, my full name is Bernard W. (William) Tharp. My father was Bernard W. Tharp (BWT) and married my mother (Lois Lucille Caldwell) in September, 1933, at Tulsa Oklahoma. BWT had a twin sister named Bernice. I was born June 6, 1934 at City of Flowers Hospital in Tulsa. My mother obtained a divorce from BWT in August 1934. The reason was "Infidelity and Abandonment". From what I have been able to find out, a better reason would be "serial marriage".
I know that BWT was married twice before he married my mother and twice afterward and died some where in eastern Oklahoma in the late 1970s. I suspect that Ida Rose (my wife's name!) Winders was wife #4. Do you know anything else about BWT? He was an Okalahoma State Patrolman from 1939 - ?
The world seems full of coincidences but just in case, I would certainly like to hear from you if you have any additional information.

Bernard was a real character as was the last woman he married. He owned two funeral homes in Aida OK, and when I tried to contact him in 1976, his sister, Bernice, (retired city of Tulsa employee) gave me his telephone number. When I called, she (wife #5) told me, “He has many children but mine will inherit. He does not wish to speak to you or anyone else from his past”. I remember it so well because it sounded as if she were reading a script.
He died in 1977 and is buried in Aida. It would have been nice to know what he looked like at least I’d have some idea as to what I have in store myself. I met him once when I was five. I had bugged my poor mother until she finally contacted Bernice and she set up the meeting. He was in the back seat of a car with a girl friend and all I remember is she giggled a lot and was glued to him. He gave me a silver dollar that I have now had for 64 years. Seems like so little to have from a father.
