This is proven wrong by the attached listing of the New Descendants from Duplin Co., N.C. There was a William New in New Hanover Co., N.C. and he did have a daughter named Tabitha (or Tobitha) but she married Kinchen Powers and is a cousin of the Tabitha New who married John Winders in Duplin Co., N.C. This has been proven by the will of John New who died in 1780 in Duplin Co., N.C. and the division of his land in 1797 which specifically mentions John Winders (in right of his wife).
