Do you know of any Winder that married a Lucinda Simmons? She may have married a Riddle before she married Mr.Winder.
I do know that Lucinda Simmons (Riddle?) had some contact with George Washington Vest as it is mentioned in an old letter written by George Washington Vest who lived in San Saba, TX in 1872 (when the letter was written) saying that Lucinda had married a Mr. Winder. The letter was written to William Jefferson Simmons, who had lived in San Saba, TX and got into a fight, thought he killed the man, and fled to Arkansas. I understand the man lived but William Jefferson simmons stayed in the area around Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Lucinda was a sister to William Jefferson Simmons.
I have been looking for Winders for quite a few years but have never found the right ones. William Jefferson Simmons even married a Winder lady for his third wife. Rumor has it that his mother might have been a Winder also. It's a colorful story. Thanks for your time. Someday I hope to find out the truth. Sincerely, Cynthia Kuehn Simmons, wife of JD Simmons, and he is the great grandson of William Jefferson Simmons.
