    • Here is what I [Rusty Lang] have from what Trish Bruhin ( MamaTrish7@cs.com ) has sent me so far. She got in touch with me after seeing a two-year-old query posted on the Winder List. She has promised more when she returns to her home in florida. You have her as a source on your website for Amanda Winders, her great-great grandmother who was also daughter of John Brown Winder and sister to my Rebecca Winder Danenhour. I assume I am not breaching any trust with Trish by giving you this:
      [snip]
I have in my possession two different files from the "Register of Wills In and For the County of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the name of Rebecca W. Danenhouer, Adm. # 1730, Year 1905; and in the name of Rebecca Winder Danenhouer, Adm # 273, Year 1915. They are both labelled "Fully un-certified copy of the probate proceedings of the letters of Administration" and the latter dated papers refer to Will 1904 - 1430 (which I do not have). Rebecca died on February 25, 1904 at 2:00 p.m.

In the 1915 papers is the following: "To the Register of Wills of Philadelphia County: I, HARRY D. DANENHOUR, do hereby renounce my right to administer the estate of my Mother, said Rebecca W. Danenhouer, deceased, and hereby request you to appoint Evan B. Lewis, Administrator d.b.n.c.t.a. Dated, Philadelphia, Feb. 2, 1915.

HARRY D. DANENHOUR, being duly sworn according to law, deposes and says that he is the son of Rebecca W. Danenhouer deceased. That Letters Testamentary were heretofore issued to Frank H. Danenhour, deponent's brother, and that the Orphans' Court of Philadelphia County has removed said Frank H. Danenhour, deponent's brother, from his office of Executor and Trustee under the will of the said Rebecca W. Danenhouer deceased, and that there were no children, at the time of the decease of his Mother, nor are there now surviving the said Rebecca W. Danenhouer, excepting only the deponent and Fernley J. Danenhour, and the said Frank H. Danenhour, who was removed from the office of Executor as aforesaid.

That the said Fernley J. Danenhour is not a resident of the County of Philadelphia, nor State of Pennsylvania, but resides in the State of Oklahoma, and that your deponent is the sole surviving child of the said decedent residing in Philadelphia, eligible to administer the remaining portion of said estate. Subscribed and sworn to before me this Fourth day of February, 1915. Signed Harry D. Danenhour."

Best I have in my records - not absolute by any means - was that Rebecca Winder married George Danenhouer on March 8, 1852 in Philadelphia (notice found in Public Ledger Newspaper records for that date).

Rebecca and George had three sons: Harry, Frank, and Fernley.

Harry D. Danenhour married Sarah P. (she died in Philadelphia on Feb. 17, 1895) and they had two children (mentioned in her will), Dora M. and Arthur P. They lived at 3114 Park Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. when Sarah died. Copy of fully un-certified copy of the probate proceedings of the letters of Administration in my possession - Adm. #1477, Year 1905.

I am Patricia (Trish) TREFZ married to Alfred BRUHIN; my mother was Gertrude GEOGHEGAN married to Richard TREFZ my grandmother was Maude DE GOUR married to Patrick GEOGHEGAN my greatgrandmother was Amanda (or Allamanda) WINDER married to George W. De Gour. my greatgreatgrandparents were John Brown Winder and Rebecca Johnson.

      They had five daughters:

Martha J. Winder born @ 1826 in PA (died unmarried) Rebecca Winder born @ 1818 in PA (married George Danenhouer) in Phila., PA Mary J. Winder born @ 1830 (married Henry Dean); had son John W. Dean and grandson, Harry C. Dean Amanda M. Winder born September 3, 1832 married George W. DeGour in Philadelphia in 1858. Jane H. Winder born @ 1834 (married J. H. Folwell, March 8, 1852 in Phila., PA)

Except for Jane, the four sisters seem to have lived together in the very late 1800's at 1941 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia. I couldn't find that particular house number so I assume it has been torn down.

There is a family genealogy "Winders of America" published @ 1905 available at the Historical Society of Philadelphia (or may it is Pennsylvania) but HSP, 1300 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA. and possibly available on microfiche via the LDS library.

I just received the death certificate for my Rebecca WINDER DANENHOUR. It
says she was buried in Cheltenham Cemetery in 1904. Does anyone have any info
on this cemetery and how I could get burial records?
      thanks,
