Hi Ann,
[snip]
As I said, Lucy was the older sister of my ggreat-grandmother, Victoria. They also had another sister, who name is unknown at this time, we're thinking it was Margaret or Gertrude, she might have married a Pence or Pentz. Lucy was married to a Lutz or Leutz, could be Thomas Leutz or could be William S Lutz. Both are listed in the 1910 census for Montoursville, and around the right age. What I cannot figure out is William's wife was listed as Katherine L. Holdren Winters, but names on their children's gravemarkers say "Wm and L. Lutz" I know these are thier babies, because they are buried next to William's parents Sebastian and Barbara Lutz. The ages of the kids match those at the courthouse in the death index. I'm wondering whether Katherine went by "Lucy" sometimes.
I am trying to trace Lucy's children from either of these families. I've drafted a letter to one of the Lutz descendants who lives out near Pittsburgh. What's weird about the Leutz family in 1910 is that all these 20-something year old kids were still living with their parents (LOL). The other thing that makes me suspicious about Lucy not being from this family is that she was born in 1853 (according to the census) and Victoria in 1872. That's quite an age difference, but not impossible. It could be one reason that Victoria ended up living with her sister until her marriage in 1887, she was only 15.
