  	Captain Edmund B. Winder Captain Edmund B. Winder, well known and highly esteemed resident of this county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. F. Powell, at Redart, yesterday after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at the home tomorrow afternoon by Rev. Dibert and interment made in the family cemetery nearby. Captain Winder was 80 years of age, a member of Old Baptist Church for many years, and one of the most respected and esteemed citizens of the County. He was a man of high character and a substantial citizen, whose life was a splendid example for the younger generation. He is survived by five sons, Captains O. A., M. F., W. E., A. M. and Mr. E. B. Winder; one daughter, Mrs. R. F. Powell and three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Sparrow, Mrs. Sallie Davis and Miss Susan Winder.

His mother was Jane Elizabeth McGee of Baltimore and his father Edmond B Winder of Mathews Info being provided by Capt M Frank Winder. 2nd. According to his death certificate, Edmond Benson Winder of Redart, VA born 26 Jun 1843 and died 23 May 1923 of carcinoma of stomach. His wife was Mary E Winder. His father was Edmond B Winder and his mother Matharsa Peed and was buried on 25 May 1923 family cemetery, in Mathews County, Va. Info being provided by Mrs R F Powell of Redart, VA Edmund Winder (age 10) was in the 1850 Mathews Census dated 30 Aug, 1850, with Edmond Winder, Jr (age 45, Blacksmith), John Winder (age 24), William Winder (age 22), Charlotte Winder (age 20), Susan Winder (age 14), Sarah Winder (age 13). He (age 75) was living in 1920 with his son-in-law Robert F Powell (age 49, Lighthouse Keeper) and wife Maria J. (age 47), and their daughters Nellie J (age 17) and Audrey 8 (age 10).
