Notes - In the fall of 1918, Albert presided at a dinner given at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. In his talk to the new members he mentioned the events in a man's life which he remembers with greatest pride. "In my life", he said, "I remember best my first pair of red-topped boots, my first day of school, my first sweetheart, and my marriage. Then the birth of my two sons, the day I joined the Masonic Order, the time my boys went into the service of their country. Proudest of all will be the day when those two boys of mine come marching home."
That day never came. An hour later, word was received of the death of his son, Paul; killed in action in France. Seven months later, Albert C. died in Newport News, Va from lobar pneumonia and the effects of gas received on the battlefields of France.
