      ...
I am a descendant of James Thaddeus Winders. I am in need of some help. I know that James Thad and Eliza or "Liza" as she was called had a child named William Thad, he was my ggrandfather. But I can't find any documentation anywhere that he was a child of James Thaddeus. The other children listed under James Thaddeus are not known to the family members that I've spoken with.

The cemetery (Cedar Grove) that James Thaddeus and Liza are buried is on Winders' land. My father took that photo of his grave that is posted on the site! [Ann's Ancestors..AW] Liza's grave is marked by a simple brick with "Liza" carved onto it. I know that the James Thaddeus and Eliza that you have is our JT and Liza. In fact, I remember stories my grandfather told me about "the old Charlie Verner place". That would have been Liza's father's place.

When I started researching the family history, I started with my family, elders of course. Then I found Christine online and she helped me tremendously. I also have spoken with someone in FL, a grandchild of Barbara Ann (JT's sister). She in fact has a letter from Liza telling Barbara Ann of James Thad's death. This is the only record we have of when he died.

If you have any suggestions for me, please pass them on. I haven't spent much time on this lately but would like to get back into it. The court house in Monroe Cty, MS burned and lost many documents that I need!!! I'm not sure where else to look. I think that the Evans Memorial Library in Aberdeen, MS (Monroe Cty) may have some photos but I haven't been there. I now live 4 hours away from Hamilton, MS. It's not as easy to get there as it used to be!

I have many stories of the Winders family that have been passed down from generation to generation. I'd like to be able to add and share and of course pass it on down!

      Thanks in Advance,
      Sandy Winders Sherrer
