Subject: Zelma "Sissy" Loraine Winder Dearmond
Zelma "Sissy" Loraine Winder Dearmond, 80, of Bay City, died February 27, 2001 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. She was born August 28, 1920 in Austin, Travis County, Texas to the late Henry Figan and Mollie Theo Skeeters Winder. Mrs. Dearmond was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City and an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class; a retired businesswoman, and a resident of Bay City since 1952. Zelma gave much of her time and support to the Bay City Public Library and the Bay City Nature Club. She gave most of her time and herself to her family, and especially her many loving grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Dearmond of Markham, and Stephen and Tracie Dearmond of Richmond, Texas; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Steven Reis of Bay City, and Dena Dearmond of Prescott, Ariz; sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Jack Rodgers of San Bernadino, California; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John D. "Buddy" and Lucille Winder of Port Lavaca, Buster Wilson and Ida Winder of Red Oak, Texas, and George and Jeanette Winder of Somerville, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Thomas Dearmond, her son Matthew Thomas "Tom" Dearmond, Jr., sisters, Henry Jean Mills, Robbie Lee Winder and Mollie Doris Reavis and brother, Henry Winder, Jr. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Crowe officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Pallbearers will be members of her family and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Class of the First Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Bay City Public Library, or the First United Methodist Church Organ Fund. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A00011A2001MR02
