  From nephew John Winder: Paul left home young and joined the US Army (1940 census puts him at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois assigned to Cooks and Bakers School; he was also at Ft. Sheridan in 1935). In 1949-50 he served an unaccompanied tour at Kagnew Station in Asmara, Ethiopia (then known as 9434 Tech Support Unit). And after that he kind of drops off the radar.
