- LAST RITES PAID MRS. F. WINDERS Daughter of Pioneer Sycamore Hostelry Owner Succumbs Monday in Minneapolis--Was Born, Wed Here--Services are Held Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Winders of Minneapolis, daughter of an early Sycamore inn keeper and a resident for years, were conducted by the Christian Science society there Thursday with interment in Minneapolis cemetery.
Mrs. Winders, formerly Mary Johnson, died Monday afternoon [17 Sep 1934] at the age of 66.
Mary Johnson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter M. Johnson, pioneer residents of Sycamore, was born in this city. Her parents conducted the "Johnson House" on South Main Street for many years, a popular hostelry located in the building now known as the Organ Apartments, just north of Ferguson's Pharmacy.
Some 28 years ago the decedent removed from her native town. While still a resident of Sycamore she became the bride of Frank Winders of this city. The latter is a brother of Sam Winders of San Bernadino [sic, Santa Barbara], Calif., and D.E. Winders of Sycamore.
One daughter, Mrs. Lois Craig of Minneapolis and her three children, together with the husband and father, survive. A host of Sycamore relatives and friends mourn deeply with the family, in the passing of a splendid life.
The husband of the decedent for many years was claim agent for the Chicago Great Western railway at Sycamore. He is now claim agent for the Minneapolis Street Car company.
