Ann, my niece found your web site and I have more information about Alpha Winder. First, his name was spelled Alfa not Alpha. Middle name was Floyd. He married my mother Margueriete Louise Lipskey (note spelling change) on July 14, 1925 in Burlington, Iowa. She was born in Galesburg, Jasper County, Illinois - NOT Iowa. The marriage produced 4 children. Alfa Gene Winder died at age 7. Rodney Dean Winder died February 2006. He never married and had no children. Two daughters; Carol Ann Winder Neidt (currently resides in Kimberling City, Missouri, and myself Deborah Kay Winder Parks. I currently live in Ottumwa, Iowa but I am moving to Kimberling City, Missouri later this year. Alfa Winder also had another daughter (born out of wedlock) Sharon Gard who also resides in Ottumwa, Iowa. Alfa had 9 sisters and 1 brother. Only one sister remains living today. Her name is Velma Wenstrom and she resides in Galesburg, Illinois. She is 87 but has a keen mind and may be able to fill in blanks for you. We pronounced the name Winder with a long I as in Bobbin Winder. I have ran into other people with the name Winder but pronounced with a short I as in blowing in the wind.
