- Free Press, Greenfield, Iowa, 20 May 1970: Theodore O. Rigg Died Wednesday
Theodore O. (Ted) Rigg, 77, retired Grove Township farmer, and a resident of Greenfield the past several years, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, after a lingering illness with a malignant condition.
Surviving him are four sisters: Miss Cleoma Rigg and Bee (Mrs. Rolla Hollingsworth) both of Greenfield; Elizabeth (Mrs. Ira Launder) of Bell Gardens, Calif., Mary (Mrs. Ivan Launder) Silverton, Orgegon; one brother, John Rigg of ALbuquerque, New Mex., and a half-sister Dora (Mrs. Sidney Cooper) Canon City, Colo.
Family and friends paid parting respects to Mr. Rigg at funeral services conducted at 10:30 a.m. at the Bickford-Murray Funeral Home in Greenfield with the Rev. Harland T. Gant of the United Methodist Church officiating. James Connell, accompanied by Mrs. Arley Nelson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide With Me".
Members of the flower committee were Patricia Ream, Jean Kranzler and Charlene Brownlee.
Honorary pallbearers were John Ehrsam, Floyd Hoadley, W.A. Sluever, Arthur Keller, Elmer Morgan, and Harold C. Shinn. Bearing the remains to the final resting place in the Greenfield cemetery were Robert Ehrsam, Keith Frizell, John Hoadley, Don Hohertz, Daryl Dluever and Morris Morgan.
Military rites at the grave site were conducted by Head-Endres Post 265 American Legion of Greenfield, Iowa.
Relatives from away attending the last rites were Mrs. and Mrs. Joe Eversull, Mrs. Edwin Eversull, Miss Ruth Eversull and friend, Mr. Arthur Siegenthaler, and Mr. and Mrs. William Eversull, all from the Stuart community, and Mr. and Mrs. Claren Pryor of Earlham. Friends came from Greenfield, Stuart, Menlo, Guthrie Center, Orient, Cumberland and Cedar Rapids.
