| Caption | Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin: Colonel Wayne M. Winder moving the tanks up. This is after Lt. John Mentor and SFV Tom Toomey had gotten the 6th Infantry Alert Platoon into the windows and hideways of the bombed out buildings on both sides of Friderichstrasse. Lt. Mentor and I had then loaded our 30 round mags in M-2 Carbines and walked to see if a fellow named Polk who was in the trapped car was O K. |
